Top 6 Southampton Festivals This Summer 

After a long academic year of exams and deadlines, we are all finally enjoying the summer holidays!

Maybe you’ve not had time to look into what’s on this summer in Southampton, but don’t worry. 

We’ve been doing some research on your behalf, so that once you’ve closed your laptop screen and put your books away, you can make the most of the Great British summer in Southampton!

There’s loads of festivals taking place in Southampton this year. 

Whether it be 80s music nostalgia or delicious food tasting, there’s something for everyone.

So grab your uni friends, get your sun cream on and get out in the sunshine!

Here are some of the best Southampton Festivals to enjoy this summer…

1. Let’s Rock Southampton

One Southampton festival that you absolutely cannot miss if you’re an 80s nostalgia fan is the ‘Let’s Rock!’ Southampton Festival.

This super fun Southampton festival is taking place on the Common on the 9th July this year and is set to be the biggest party of the summer.

Topping the bill are 1980s music legends Adam Ant, Billy Ocean, Belinda Carlisle, Tony Hadley, Sonique.

So get your legwarmers on, frizz up your hair, douse yourself in glitter and get down to Let’s Rock!

2. Summertime Live Southampton

For more musical fun, check out Summertime Live.

It’s a huge festival experience and a massive party on Southampton Common on 8th July this year.

You can enjoy sets from DJs, amazing street food, bars, glitter makeup stalls, festival fashion, live mingling entertainers and more.

Classic Ibiza will be topping the bill with renditions of some of the biggest dance anthems of the past 30 years, performed live by a stunning 32 piece orchestra. 

3. Hampshire Food Festival

In the month of July, the county of Hampshire is hosting this mouthwatering food festival.

Organised by local food group Hampshire Fare, it gives you a chance to explore what goes on behind the scenes to grow, rear and serve some of the county’s tastiest produce.

4. Southampton Thai Festival

If you don’t want to travel abroad during this year’s uni summer holidays, then the good news is that there’s a Southampton Festival which will bring the holidays to you!

The Southampton Thai Festival has been held annually since 2007, and is a celebration of all things Thai.

Here in Hoglands Park on 2nd-3rd July you can eat your fill of scrumptious,  authentic Thai food, while enjoying live entertainment and soaking up Thai culture.

As well as that, take in a day of arts & crafts, Thai dancing, Thai boxing, drink some Thai beer, or visit the funfair and much more!

5. Beats and Eats Southampton

This year, Beats and Eats returns with its incredible blend of live music and tantalising delicious street food. It’ll be hosted at Hoglands Park in Southampton on 17th & 18th September.

At this Southampton Festival, you can make the most of Southampton's very best bands, DJs, solo artists, and performers.

On top of that you can sample gorgeous food from international street kitchens, and check out handmade wares at the Market Trader’s Area.

There are also bars serving lager, craft beer, cider, spirits, wines, and cocktails. 

6. Mela Festival

The Southampton Mela Festival is another chance to soak up international culture in the heart of Southampton this summer.

It’s a well-established summer highlight in the city’s events calendar and is designed to be a celebration of modern and traditional Asian culture. 

It’s always a fusion of live performances from world class musicians, dance, and authentic Asian cuisine. This year it hits Hogland’s Park on 16th July in an explosion of colour and life.

This event always attracts crowds from all over the South coast of England, so make sure you get in on the fun!
