Jubilee in the Castle
One event that you simply can’t miss out on this year is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert at Cardiff Castle.
Whether you’re a royalist or not, it’s an indisputable fact that this year is monumental in British history. In 2022 our Queen becomes the longest-reigning British monarch of all time, achieving 70 years on the throne - and counting!
What better way to celebrate, than by having a big blowout at Cardiff Castle, with all proceeds being donated to Shelter Cymru?
Set to be the biggest party of the year, it falls on the June Bank Holiday weekend. The event will be hosted by Welsh national treasures Aled Jones, Bonnie Tyler, Mike Peters and John Owen Jones.
It’s sure to be one of the most unforgettable music events in Cardiff this summer.
The ‘Singing in the Reign’ programme brings together 80s legends Madness with some of Wales’ finest singers and entertainers. The bill includes the iconic Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Shakin’ Stevens and many more, as well as the Pendyrus Male Voice Choir and Welsh Pops Orchestra.
Feels Like Summer Festival
One of the biggest upcoming events in Cardiff this summer is the Feels Like Summer festival. This massive event returns in August after a two-year hiatus.
Set in Bute Park, it’s set to be one of the essential music events in Cardiff that you won’t want to miss!
It only lasts for one day, so make sure you get Saturday, August 6th in your diary!
Here you’ll see Sophie Ellis Bextor and Billy Ocean headlining, alongside the Gospel House Choir, an electric house meets gospel experience which is sure to get you moving with their club favourites. And you’ll even get to see fitness legend Mr Motivator in the flesh!
Other artists on the bill are Bloco B from Bristol, a collective of musicians and dancers who take part in St Paul’s Carnival in Bristol, Notting Hill Carnival and Rio Carnival. They’ll be bringing the carnival spirit to Feels Like Summer - it’ll be impossible not to get up and move your body!
As well as that, you can shake your booty at the Lycra 80s Party, which is becoming a firm festival favourite thanks to its high energy dancers, DJs and live aerobics!
As if all that wasn’t enough, you can get hold of delicious grub at the street food vendor stalls and then sample drinks from the Pimms and Prosecco bar.
Diana Ross
On Friday 10th June, this music giant will descend upon Cardiff Castle as part of her Thank You tour.
Ms. Ross is one of the most successful recording artists of all time, starting out in the motown group The Supremes before moving on to iconic solo status.
The unrivalled Queen of Motown will treat her loyal fans to music, memories, and career magic in an event that’s sure to sparkle with glamour and glitz.
Rag ‘n’ Bone Man at Depot in the Castle
In July, Cardiff Castle’s grounds will be taken over by Rag ‘n’ Bone Man at Depot in the Castle.
On Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th, the festival will return for its fifth year.
Saturday night will be the main event while Sunday will be a more family-friendly daytime event.
Alongside a mix of other artists, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man will perform a selection of his hits, including Human, Giant, and Anywhere Away From Here.
Lewis Capaldi
This chart-topping artist and Brits Critics’ Choice Award winner will be performing at Alexandra Head in Cardiff Bay on July 20th.
He’ll be performing all of his most famous hits, including his number one single Someone You Loved, which stayed at the top of the charts for a whopping seven weeks!
Primal Scream
Rock fans shouldn’t skip this one.
This massive Scottish rock band will perform on Friday 22nd July at Alexandra Head in Cardiff Bay.
At their Screamadelica show, they’ll be accompanied by fellow giants the Happy Mondays and Hot Chip, ensuring that this will be one of the standout music events in Cardiff this summer!
Titan Festival
Here’s another big one taking place at Alexandra Head in Cardiff Bay.
The Titan Festival is a drum and bass festival hosting big names such as Chase & Status, Shy FX, Wilkinson, and Kings of the Rollers on July 15th.
On July 16th you can enjoy sets from English deep house DJs CamelPhat and Patrick Topping.
Pete Tong
Cardiff Castle will play host to the legendary dance DJ Pete Tong at what’s set to be one of the most banging music events in Cardiff this summer.
The Cardiff Castle Ibiza Classics show will mark four years since Pete Tong has graced the Welsh capital with his presence.
He’ll be at the Castle on Friday 8th July.
But worry not if you can’t make it - he’ll be at the Motorpoint Arena in November.
