The Best Vegan Restaurants for Students in London

Whether you’re a fully-fledged vegan or you just fancy a bit of plant-based grub every now and then, we’ve got it covered.

London is full of vegan options, in fact there are so many vegan restaurants in London that it would be impossible to fit them all into one article!

We have, however, compiled a list of our favourite vegan spots. All you have to do is take your pick, and tuck in!

Unity Diner

First up on our list of vegan restaurants in London is this comfort food haven, based on Wentworth Street.

The food here is hearty - we’re talking beef and chicken-style burgers, juicy hot dogs, dirty fries with gorgeous toppings and sticky tempeh ‘ribs’. Not only that, but a selection of tempting desserts and sweet cocktails.
We recommend ‘Piers Morgan’s Tears’ – made with gin, pea flower tea, coconut liqueur, peach syrup, lime and tonic.

And on top of all that, a chilled, funky setting with leafy plants and graffiti art. Perfectly Instagrammable!

What the Pitta! Camden

If you’re a fan of a cheeky kebab at the end of a night out but struggle to find vegan alternatives then check out this, one of the best vegan restaurants for students.

We love the classic doner with tzatziki, hummus and chilli sauce. Alternatively, go for the homemade falafel wrap.

Stem & Glory, Barts Square

Set in the heart of the city, this award-winning restaurant is sure to win you over with its modern, Danish-inspired interior, and delicious dishes.
Every dish here is served up as though it were a work of art, and you can enjoy flavours from all over the world.

Whether it be fluffy Korean kimchi pancakes, a Korean favourite, Moroccan harissa-grilled tofu steak tagine, or Sri Lankan golden curry, there’s something for every taste.

The desserts are to die for too, and the avocado, chocolate and hazelnut torte will win over even your most vegan-sceptic friends!

123V

A cheaper alternative from the same owner as Gauthier’s restaurant, this is one of the best vegan restaurants for students.

Set on Bond Street, it serves up breakfast and lunch menus, as well as a rich sushi menu. Check out the remarkably realistic tasting tuna and salmon sashimi pieces and take in views from the balcony.

Black Cat, Hackney

When it comes to mouthwatering brunches, then this is surely one of the best vegan restaurants for students.

It’s a not-for-profit workers’ cooperative, which makes it super affordable, and there’s a truly neighbourhood feel about it.

The food hits the spot too, with beef-style seitan and soya-mince burger, barbecue tofu sandwiches, pancakes, curries and meatless lasagnes, amongst many others - all served in generous portions, just as we like it!

Oh, and don’t forget to try the chickpea flour pancake with roasted vegetables - it’s the most popular dish for a reason!

The Spread Eagle

If you enjoy a pub vibe and love pub grub, then this is definitely the one for you. While it may not come strictly under the category of the best vegan restaurants in London, it is definitely worth a mention!

It is London’s first and only 100% vegan pub, and its plant-based menu gives a vegan twist to all the usual pub classics.

Try the Beyond Meat patty topped with lettuce, gherkins and burger sauce, or get stuck into a sumptuous pie with mash and gravy. Sticky toffee pudding for afters, served alongside vanilla ice cream and lashings of toffee sauce.

What’s not to like?!

Purezza, Camden

Calling all pizza lovers! Your search is over!

Purezza has an epic pizza menu, with an enormous range of vegan pizzas topped with dairy-free mozarella.

As well as pizza, gluten-free lasagne, cheesesteak calzone, and vegan cheesy garlic bread are on offer.

Our favourite is the Parmigiana Party creation, made with plant-based mozzarella, and topped with aubergine and crumbly vegan sausage. Another pizza we’d recommend is Here Comes Truffle, topped with wood-smoked tofu and wild mushrooms.

Mamma mia, they are delicious!

Ready Burger

If you’re partial to a little fast food every now and then, step away from McDonald’s and step into Ready Burger. It’s the hot new vegan burger chain that’s giving the golden arches a run for their money!

You can choose from fast food faves such as the eerily familiar double-decker burgers to ‘chicken’ fillets, and even McFlurry-style dairy-free soft whip ice creams.

As well as being guilt-free and tasty, it’s also super affordable, which is why it’s earned its place on our list of the best vegan restaurants for students.

Mildred’s, Soho

We’ve already mentioned her sister restaurant, Mallow, but this is the original and has been going in Soho for decades.

Some of the standout favourites on the menu include gyoza dumplings with shimeji mushrooms; Sri Lankan sweet potato, coconut curry, and a beetroot white bean burger with pickled red cabbage.

The menu takes inspiration from all over the world, with tastes of Asia, South and Central America, and the Middle East.

Definitely one of the best vegan restaurants in London, and not to be missed!

Club Mexicana

For something a little different, check out Club Mexicana in Soho’s buzzing Kingly Court.

Expect an array of vegan takes on traditional Mexican snacks and dishes such as Baja fish tacos made with beer-battered tofu. Well worth a visit!

Rudy’s

Rudy’s Vegan Diner in Camden is a must-visit for any lover of vegan food and one of the best vegan restaurants in London.

‘The Ridiculous’ burger is obligatory - it’s simply delicious, with its soya beef mince patty, baycon, cheeze slice, grilled onions, pulled porc, lettuce and gravy.
Once you’ve tried that, take your pick from any one of the mouth-watering options on the menu.

Holy Carrot, Knightsbridge

You’ll instantly feel zen when you enter Holy Carrot. This place has a super relaxed ambience, with a spa-like vibe, light blue walls and dried flower installations.
The menu varies between healthier dishes and other, slightly naughtier treats like purple potato croquettes slathered in homemade basil mayo and palm ‘crab’ burger served with triple-cooked chips. (Forget your diet!)

After all of that delicious, healthy vegan food, head home to your modern Yugo student accommodation, fuelled up and ready to get down to some supercharged studying!
