Cork's Best Study Spots
Cork’s world-class college has some of the best facilities available to students. But with a student population of more than 25,000, it can be a bit tricky getting a seat in the library when it comes time to hit the books – not to mention that sitting in the same building day in, day out can get a little bit boring. It can be difficult concentrating when you’re not comfortable with your surroundings, so when you feel the procrastination coming on, it’s time to mix it up and find a new study spot.
Fortunately, Cork has plenty of hidden gems where you can connect to the Wi-Fi, spread your textbooks out, and get stuck into a bit of revision.
THE WEBWORKHOUSE
You’ll probably know that to have a successful study session, you’ve got to have speedy internet and stay suitably fuelled throughout. Well, look no further, because The Webworkhouse has been designed with you in mind. With fast internet access and plenty of computers to choose from, you can get your work done in your own personal space for as little as €1.50 per hour!
Inside you’ll find plenty of affordable food and drink options to keep you alert throughout your study session – plus you can stay there for as long as you need to, because this internet cafe is open 24/7, making it the perfect spot for last-minute exam prep.

THE BOOKSHELF COFFEE HOUSE
If free and fast Wi-Fi is what you need, then free and fast Wi-Fi is what you’ll get when you choose to make The Bookshelf your study spot for the day. This quiet hideaway is perfect if you need a relatively silent space to get through your work. With award-winning coffee, you’ll be able to keep yourself suitably caffeinated while you get through your work, plus this hidden gem has one of the best brunch menus in the city.
We recommend that you pull up a chair in their quiet upstairs space, where you’ll be able to spread out your work and get stuck in. If you’ve got an afternoon free, this is an ideal spot to base yourself for the afternoon – try to get down as early as possible, because plenty of other students and bloggers will have the same idea!

CORK CITY LIBRARY
If you’re fed up of looking at the inside of the college library, you can pack up your things and move yourself down to Cork’s City Library. Here you can find a wide range of books that cover your topic, and you won’t have to compete with fellow students to get a hold of the last few remaining textbooks and resources.
When you head down to the City Library, you’re guaranteed a quiet atmosphere where you can get your head down and get through some work, plus their online service allows you to check which books they’ve got in stock before you even head down – so you’ll never have to waste time looking for resources that aren’t there!

This space is perfect for all of you lit students who are looking for a bit of inspiration while writing your next essays. With a great selection of sandwiches and good coffee, you can base yourself here all day while you plough through some work.

ORSO KITCHEN AND BAR
You’re probably wondering why we’ve included a bar on our list of study spots, right? Well, we study best when we’re relaxed. ORSO kitchen and Bar offers a laid-back atmosphere and remains relatively quiet throughout the day, which means you can turn up, grab a table, and choose one of the mouthwatering dishes from their menu.
They’re open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, meaning you can base yourself here all day (although it does get a little busier later on, so we recommend making this an afternoon study location).
