The 'Let's Rock Festival' in Exeter in 2022 - 4 Things You Need to Know
If you’re living and studying in Exeter and you’re a fan of 80s music nostalgia, then you won’t want to miss out on one of this summer’s most exciting events.
We are, of course, referring to the Let’s Rock Exeter Festival!
1. What is Let’s Rock! Exeter?
Since 2009, Let’s Rock! has been a super popular 80s retro festival, and this year will be no exception.
The festival promises an amazing line up of 80s legends which are sure to get you singing and dancing along.
So get your legwarmers and shoulderpads on, do up your hair as big as possible, and grab your friends to rock out in Exeter’s Powderham Castle on 2nd July!
2. Who’s Performing?
Here are some of the must-see acts of the Let’s Rock Exeter festival…
Human League
You can guarantee that this act was your parents’ fave in the 80s, and you’ll definitely have heard their classic chart-topping hit ‘Don’t You Want Me’.
Human League is an experimental electronic outfit which consists of lead singer-songwriter Philip Oakley, Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley.
OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark)
OMD is an English electronic band and are regarded as pioneers of electronic music. They were massive figures in the early-1980s emergence of synth-pop. They are famous for their 1980 anti-war song ‘Enola Gay’, amongst other hit singles.
Billy Ocean
This R&B legend had a string of international pop hits in the 1970s and 1980s. Belt out ‘When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going’ and ‘Get Outta my Dreams, Get into My Car’ with Billy at the festival!
Belinda Carlisle
Belinda, once lead singer of the Go-Go’s, is the most successful all-female rock band of all time, and has enjoyed a long career as a solo artist.
She’s even earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and her place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Her most famous single is ‘Heaven Is a Place on Earth’, which you’re sure to recognise and sing along to at the festival!
Heaven 17
This classic new wave and synth-pop trio are sure to be worth checking out. Amongst their classic hits are ‘Temptation’, which is definitely one to rock out to!
Sonique
British singer, musician and DJ Sonique achieved big success as a solo artist in the early 2000s but she initially started out in S’Express in the early 90s.
Bop along to her chart toppers ‘It Feels So Good’, ‘Sky’, ‘I Put a Spell on You’, and ‘Can’t Make Up My Mind’. Perfect for a warm summer evening with a beer and uni friends!
Tom Bailey (Thompson Twins)
Bailey is famous for being the lead vocalist of the 1980s new wave band the Thompson Twins.
He is also a singer, songwriter, composer, musician, and record producer.
Some of his most famous hits include ‘Love On Your Side’, ‘We Are Detective’, ‘Hold Me Now’, ‘Doctor! Doctor!’, and ‘You Take Me Up’.
3. VIP Tickets

VIP tickets grant fast track entry to the festival, as well as access to luxury loos (a lifesaver in any festival!).

4. Camping and Accommodation
If you fancy camping out then you’ll be happy to know that there are camping facilities available on the Saturday night.
The facilities are run by Camplitude, and toilets and free showers will be provided.
You can use the camping space from 9am on Saturday until midday on Sunday. If you’re not such a dab hand at pitching tents then you can book a pre-pitched tent here.
