Newcastle’s Arts, Music and Culture
If you’re a culture vulture Newcastle boasts a diverse collection of museums, galleries, theatres and music venues to suit all tastes.
If contemporary art is your passion, head to The BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and its new cultural hub, BALTIC 39 (partnered with Northumbria University). The People’s Theatre and Dance City offer students the chance to get involved in drama and dance.
Newcastle has some great theatres and event arenas: The Theatre Royal hosts a range of events from dance performances to popular stand-up comedians, and Metro Radio Arena hosts many concerts from big names like Kings of Leon and The Weeknd. Not forgetting the O2 Academy, which is a great venue for smaller gigs and The Cluny which has live music on most nights.
Newcastle’s museums are another highlight: check out the Discovery Museum, the Great North Museum and the Life Science Centre.
