Newcastle’s arts, music and culture

The city's bar and club scene is one of the most famous in the UK. But it's not all party, party, party in Newcastle. Culture vultures are well catered for too with a big choice of museums, galleries, theatres and music venues.

If thought-provoking modern art is your passion, head to The BALTIC Centre and its new cultural hub, BALTIC 39 (partnered with Northumbria University).

Newcastle also has some great theatres and event arenas: The Theatre Royal offers a calendar of events from dance performances to popular stand-up comedians, and Metro Radio Arena hosts many big-name bands from Kings of Leon to The Weeknd. There's also the O2 Academy, a great venue for smaller gigs, and The Cluny which has live music on most nights.

Or if you want to get involved in drama and dance, make a beeline for The People’s Theatre and Dance City.

Newcastle’s museums are another highlight: check out the Discovery Museum, the Great North Museum and the Life Science Centre.
