10 Best Things to Do in Lincoln This Summer as a Student
This summer Lincoln is coming alive with a multitude of fun activities and things to do.
Once the exam period is over, you’ll surely be raring to go and wanting to let your hair down.
Best of all, with Covid restrictions lifted, we can all finally truly enjoy our summer celebrations.

1. Harry Potter Book Night- 25th June 9am till 3.30pm
This magical event is sure to transport you back to your childhood.
It’s a celebration of 25 years of Harry Potter, recreating the world of Hogwarts at Lincoln Central Library and The Greyfriars.
Bring along your friends to delve into the world of witchcraft and wizardry. Try out a potions class by brewing Polyjuice Potion, attend a Herbology class, and craft your own wand.
After, get stuck into a butterbeer in the Three Broomsticks.
Enter the Great Hall and participate in the Sorting Hat Ceremony, where you’ll be assigned to one of the four Hogwarts Houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin.
Work out the password to gain access to Gryffindor common room, and if you’re feeling brave join in with a Defence Against the Dark Arts class with Professor Gilderoy Lockhart.
You can come dressed up in costume - the best one gets a prize.

2. Silent Disco - 2nd July 9.50am - 11.45am, Crook Bank
Get your boogie on at the Dance Free silent disco, where you’re bound to have bags of fun and release tension post-exams!
Dance Free is a movement designed to help you to move freely to disconnect mentally and reconnect with nature while energising your body.
At this event you’ll be able to release your inhibitions, judgement-free, in a highly welcoming environment.
You’ll feel more confident after, and will leave with a smile on your face and a natural high. What’s not to like?
3. Rag ‘n’ Bone Man 3rd July Lincolnshire Show Ground
One of the best things to do in Lincoln this summer will undoubtedly be this event.
Head to the Lincolnshire Showground to revel in a performance from three-times BRIT award-winner Rag ’n’ Bone Man.
He’ll be in Lincoln as part of a huge UK summer 2022 tour and will perform tracks from his multi-platinum selling album ‘Human’ and double platinum selling, global smash, ‘Giant’.
He’ll also treat fans to songs from his latest album ‘Life By Misadventure’.

4. 1940s Weekend 23rd-24th July, Cathedral Quarter
Calling all History students! We’re going back in time!
If you’re into vintage and nostalgia then you will absolutely love this event.
Lincoln will be transformed into 1940s Britain with two days of vintage performances, activities and displays in Lincoln's historic Cathedral Quarter.
Be transported back in time with live 1940s music and dance, food and drink, vintage and antique markets, and living history displays.
You’ll also be able to see vintage vehicles from the era, alongside vintage clothing, confectionery and artwork.
Make sure you catch the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypasts with Spitfire, Hurricane & Lancaster Bomber planes.

5. Picnic Socials at Lincoln Castle 23rd July- 7th August
If you’re looking to make the most of the uni summer sunshine then there is genuinely no better event for you than this one.
The Picnic Social is a series of summer gatherings at the Lincoln Castle grounds. Here you can enjoy food, culture and community in a chilled atmosphere.
Not only that, but by night there’ll be live music supplied by disco, funk and soul bands. Take it all in with a selection of craft beers, cocktails, and artisan spirits along with delicious food.
On certain days you can participate in yoga or book a ticket for the Castle’s Mediaeval Wall Walk and enjoy the spectacular evening views across the city.

6. Story Trails Lincoln 30th-31st July, Lincoln Central Library
This is an immersive storytelling experience designed to bring to life untold stories from the past.
This is one of the best things to do in Lincoln for History fans.
It’s one of 15 locations across the UK that have been chosen to participate in the programme.
Using augmented and virtual reality, audiences can travel in time to experience local history right where it happened.
The StoryTrails app and local performers will guide you through time and space to experience the city in new and magical ways.
You can fly through a unique virtual map of Lincoln made up of 3D models and audio stories and explore even more using bespoke VR headsets.
7. Lincoln Steampunk Festival 26th-29th August, Cathedral Quarter
Look on in wonder as the cobbled streets of historic Lincoln are transformed with top hats, flying goggles, corsets and flamboyant feathers!
Would you believe it - Lincoln is home to the biggest Steampunk festival in the world and it’s returning for the 12th time during this year’s August Bank Holiday weekend.
It attracts visitors from all over the world, and you can see why.
One of the best things to do in Lincoln this summer, it’s a unique celebration of a steam powered world in the late 19th century.
It boasts a fringe-style programme of art, literature, music, fashion and comedy.

8. Cornhill Cove Crazy Golf, until 29th August
Get down to the Cornhill Cove if you’re looking for a fun packed day of crazy golf, tasty street food and pop-up entertainment.
This year's event includes a seaside style pop-up bar, ice cream stalls, cocktails, coffees, and slushies.
What’s more, this year for the first time there’ll be live performances from DJs and musicians and a packed schedule of entertainment.

9. Once Upon a Time - A Quest at Lincoln Castle 23rd June to 26th August 10am to 5pm
This is a fun interactive activity which will bring out your inquisitive side.
You become a StoryTeller and set about exploring the Castle grounds in search of a series of keys.
Each key will unlock a different story of the legends from Lincoln Castle’s history.
You’ll be given a quest sheet with clues and puzzles to solve and each key will represent the unlocking of 6 different stories.
Sure to be loads of fun and one of the best things to do in Lincoln on a summer’s day before your next semester starts.
10. Lincoln Jazz festival 15th-17th July, Lincoln Cathedral
This July, the Cathedral will play host to a weekend festival of Jazz and Gospel music.
The weekend festival will see performances from leading musicians from both the UK and overseas.
