5 things you need to know before moving into a student residence

There are moments in life that mark a before and after. Choosing where you will live during your university years is one of those moments, so here are 5 fundamental things you need to know about day-to-day life in a university student residence.

1. You’ll travel the world without leaving the common areas

You've probably heard a million times that your university years are the best of your life and that it’s during this time that you make lifelong friendships. But if you also stay in a university residence, you’ll make friends from all over the world. Our university residences host both national and international students in a multicultural and diverse environment. But it won’t come at the cost of sharing a room, as in our Yugo residences, you can live in a single room or a single apartment and share adventures in the numerous common areas like the landscaped terraces at Galdós University Residence in Madrid, the endless games room at Coliseo Europea Student Residence, swimming pool at Emilia Pardo Bazán Student Residence, or study room at Nuevo Norte Residence. And if that’s not enough, we also organise group activities so you can all get to know each other.

2. It won’t all be fun: you’ll spend hours in the study areas

Remember: you’ll need to dedicate between 4 and 6 hours a day to studying or doing university assignments to graduate, according to a study from the University of Utah.

We can’t forget that although there’s a lot of fun and good vibes in our residences, the ultimate goal is one: to study and pass your exams. That’s why in our university residences, besides having your own study area in your room, you’ll also have the perfect place to work on notes and assignments: the common study areas. They have perfect lighting, optimal ventilation, spacious tables, and chairs at the right height so you can have study marathons or work on group projects. Needless to say, there’s high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the residence so you can work wherever you like.

3. You’ll practise “mens sana in corpore sano”

If until now you’ve been the kind of person who has paid for gym memberships but never set foot in the fitness room, or you think about eating healthily but don’t organise your shopping well… you no longer have an excuse.

Our residences have gyms equipped with cardio areas, weight areas, and yoga equipment so you don’t lose your fitness. Our daily menus with full board always include a healthy option so you can maintain excellent health. Additionally, many of our residences have multipurpose rooms where you can bring out your hidden hobby (rehearsal rooms, cinema rooms…).

4. Be close to everything so you don’t miss a thing

We always carefully choose the locations of our university residences so they are close to the university without losing sight of the cultural and social centres of the cities we are in. This way, you’ll take very little time to get to your faculty and can easily access the cultural centres of the city you’re staying in.

All residences have 24/7 security, weekly room cleaning (with bed linen change) and daily cleaning of common areas, maintenance service, and concierge service with collection of your online purchases. In short, they have everything so you don’t have to suffer.

5. All bills included will be your daily bread

Not having to worry about paying the Wi-Fi or water bill, going to the supermarket, doing weekly house cleaning, or calling the electrician because something broke, is an advantage. At Yugo residences, all utilities costs are included: climate control both in summer and winter, maintenance service, and parcel collection. This way, you can focus on what really matters: studying and enjoying yourself.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us and we will respond as soon as we can.
