Top 10 Summer Student Events in London 2022

Summer’s not too far off and there’s loads going on in London this year.

You’re probably a little bit taken by surprise by how quickly the time’s flying and haven’t even had time to check out some of the student events in London.

Don’t worry, that’s what we’re here for.

While you’ve been revising away for end of year exams, we’ve been doing our own research into some of the best potential plans for you to enjoy in the summer holidays. You deserve it!

1. Queen's Jubilee Celebrations

Ok, so this one isn’t strictly a student event BUT we thought it’d be rude not to.

This year marks a monumental milestone in British history as we see our steadfast HM Queen Elizabeth completing a stonking 70 years on the throne. That makes her an official record-breaker, as she’s the longest-reigning British monarch of ALL TIME.

So, we recommend that you take a day to join with the nation in celebrating the event by going along to a street party on the Bank Holiday weekend in June. Get some union jack bunting out, put on a buffet spread, and watch the jubilee concert together. It can be a cheap and cheerful do or as fancy as you want to make it - just participating is the most important part!

ONE simply must join in with the fun!

2. Hampton Court Palace Festival

Keeping up with the royal theme, make sure you don’t miss out on a performance from indie rock legends Elbow, who are kicking off what is set to be one of the biggest summer events in London this year. It spans throughout the month of June with various artists playing including McFly and 80s legends The Human League.

On 10th June, fans can enjoy performances from this Elbow in the dramatic and elegant setting of Hampton Court Palace (once home to King Henry VIII and his wives - keep your eyes peeled for the ghost of Catherine Howard!)

3. YAM Carnival 2022

On 27th August head to Clapham Common to take part in a one-day music festival brought to you by the creators of AfroNation.

It’s a celebration of live music from Afrobeat, Reggaeton, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Contemporary RnB and World genres.

4. BST Hyde Park

British Summer Time in 2022 has been one of the most popular summer events in London since 2013.

Some of the world’s biggest and most iconic artists gather in Hyde Park over several weekends, lighting up the outdoor stage with stunning performances alongside a host of free activities and entertainment.

This year you can see, amongst many other artists, the legendary Elton John on 24th June, the Rolling Stones on 25th June, Adele on 1st and 2nd July, and Pearl Jam on 9th July.

5. Red Hot Chili Peppers

The Chilis will continue their 2022 UK Hella Mega stadium tour with a one-night performance at the London Stadium on 24th June.

The tour includes performances from other headlining acts such as Green Day, Fall Out Boy, and Weezer, as well as guest performances from Anderson, Paak & the Free Nationals, and Thundercat.

6. Ed Sheeran Wembley Dates

The UK’s top-selling artist will be playing at Wembley Stadium for five nights between 24th June and 1st July, as part of his ‘+ - = ÷ x Tour’ (pronounced ‘The Mathematics Tour’).

This one is sure to be one of the biggest student events in London this summer, and one of the most memorable moments of the year. You don’t want to miss out!

This double platinum and BRIT award-winning artist will be visiting Sandown Park on Wednesday 20th July as part of her UK summer tour.

She will take to the stage after a day of racing, in what is sure to be a night of incredible vocals, stunning outfits and a breathtaking spectacle.

8. James Acaster Hackney Empire

James Acaster is one of the UK’s most popular comedians, and now you can enjoy a night in his company.

His laid back style and playful wit will keep you on your toes and have you rolling in the aisles.

He’ll be at the Hackney Empire for just one night on 17th June, so make sure you get your tickets!

9. Parallax 'Art' Fair

This free event is one of the most interesting and unique events that you can hope to come across this summer in London.

It’s the largest artist and designer fair in Europe and takes place at Kensington Town Hall on Hornton Street.

Head over on 2nd and 3rd of July to enjoy this great day out.

10. London Pride

Although not strictly a student event, London Pride is always popular among the student community.

So if you’re looking for unforgettable, fun student events in London this summer you must check out Pride!

Presented by Pride in London, this year’s event celebrates 50 years of Pride in the UK’s capital.

Alongside the annual parade and festival, this year there is a Proud and Loud event at the Royal Albert Hall with performances from Calum Scott and Hayley Kiyoko, as well as Cat Burns and ariōn.

This celebration of the LGBT+ community will raise money for the Pride in London’s Unity Fund, and is sure to be an incredible night out!
