On your marks. Get Set. Go!

That’s the racetrack in the back of the mind. The race at hand is the preparation for your exams. You’re running along, frantically trying to keep yourself together. And, typically, it looks like a few hurdles are coming up ahead.

We believe you can make it, champion. And we’ve scoured the web for the best tips, so you can space out those hurdles and have more time for your revision. Here’s how.

1. Get Yourself Together

Before you can do anything, you need to get organised. Make sure you have a diary, or schedule. Something to track your time. Put in all the important dates for your exams, and any coursework dates. And appointments.

Now you know what you’re up against. So you can prioritise your daily tasks.

2. Study Smart

With your organisation sorted, think about ways you can cut the time off your studies.

Better notes, study groups, whatever works for you. Each improves retention and saves time. Much better than frantic and relentless cramming.

3. Be Efficient

Here’s another way to save time. Let’s say Mike is a student at our halls in London. On his way to do the laundry, he puts on the kettle for a cup of tea, turns on the oven for dinner, and while that’s cooking, he writes up today’s lecture notes. After he’s eaten he picks up his laundry, finishing all these chores in one hour.

Mike is a pro. He’s also not real, but that’s beside the point. Which is that you can save time if you get multiple tasks done together.

4. Minimise Distractions

One thing that isn’t going to help you multitask is social media. It sure is interesting: those might be the finest cats you’ve ever seen on Tumblr, and those dinners on Pinterest do look delicious. But we’re in a race right now.

So don’t fall into the trap of absentmindedly browsing the web. It’s the easiest way to sink a whole evening.

5. Take Breaks

Surely the best way to get more stuff done is to just sit down and keep bashing out the work, yeah?

In fact the brainy guys of science have been using their sciency lasers and science to prove that if you want to work more efficiently it’s important to schedule yourself some breaks.  So don’t go too hard on yourself. Give yourself the energy, and then get ready to take on the challenge.

And You’re Off!

As far as your time as a student goes, this is one of the most challenging times of the year. But think of it this way: you will knuckle down and manage your time, and the rewards of the summer are right around the corner.

So save the time with the tips you’ve learned in this post, give those exams everything you’ve got, and then get ready for the next part of your adventure.
