Pottering around Portsmouth

When you’re not studying (or partying!), there are other great places to hang out in this coastal student destination.

Famous for its shipbuilding heritage, Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard is a must-visit, at least once while you’re living here. And once you’ve seen enough old ships, there’s other stuff to do round there – pubs, bars, restaurants, and the No.6 Cinema for some great arthouse movies.

From the Spinnaker Tower – that huge futuristic-looking tower by the harbour – you’ll get a stunning panoramic view of the south coast, and brave the glass floor if you dare! It's also close to Old Portsmouth where you can soak up the history before  a stroll along Southsea promenade.

Sports and other uni societies are big amongst Portsmouth’s student community. If you’re a keen athlete or you want to become one, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved with whatever sport you're into and enjoy some state-of-the-art facilities and a warm welcome into the bargain.
