Sir David Attenborough is everyone’s favourite 93 year-old, thanks to his commitment to making the world a better place for everyone and everything that lives on it. Right now, this is more important than ever, with climate change high on the political agenda. But there are steps we can all take to protect the environment for future generations. We take these issues seriously, so here are some ways you can help keep our planet safe and healthy - with a little help from us.

Why Not Cycle To Uni?

Cycling is the most eco-friendly form of transport and not only that, it helps keep you fit and healthy too. What’s not to love? We encourage everyone to explore their city by pedal power, so we’ve made sure that nearly all our housing has plenty of bicycle storage to make it easier to be a proud and environmentally-friendly bike owner.

Help Protect the Environment

Recycling is one of the easiest and most effective ways to help the planet. Separating waste means plenty of paper, plastic and metal can be reused, massively reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. This is why every one of our flats come with a recycling bin - it only takes a second to use but can have a huge impact on the planet. And you can go a step further by reusing plastic or other containers instead of putting them straight in the bin - it all helps!

Bright Spark

We’ve all got those pet peeves, from the door being left open to dishes piling up in the sink. One common issue is someone leaving the light on. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered - we use light sensors throughout our accommodation buildings so that lights aren’t left on all the time. Also, nearly all of our lights are energy-saving light bulbs. Not only does this help reduce carbon dioxide emissions but they can even offer better lighting in dark areas.

Grow Your Own

At some of our residences you can grow your own fruit and veg on one of our vegetable patches. Not only does this help promote oxygen levels, it also lets you grow your own organic food for a fraction of the price - without a piece of plastic packaging in sight.

Don’t Single, Multipurpose!

As seen at this year’s Glastonbury, banning single-use plastic and focusing on reusable containers was an incredibly effective way to cut waste. With this in mind, we have reusable coffee cups for all students to use across our buildings. But you’ll have to provide your own Pyramid Stage…
