As a student in Exeter, you don’t need to look hard for quality entertainment – quite the opposite! You can look forward to a variety of nightlife and evening entertainment, bringing you something different every night.

While the historic beauty of the Quayside cannot be denied, the city is also home to many contemporary attractions, including amazing boutiques and eateries in the city centre including No Guts No Glory, HUBBOX and The Old Firehouse. Up the hill at St Davids, there are even more, with the added bonus of the area being home to the popular Cornwall House outdoor swimming pool, as well as the infamous Lemon Grove nightclub.

Exeter has a good selection of public houses and wine bars to choose from, making the central area particularly busy during Friday and Saturday nights. Most of these public houses also serve food, and there are numerous nice restaurants across the city – offering cuisines ranging from Latin-American to oriental and everything in between.

Other evening entertainments include cinemas, theatres, museums and art galleries, Tenpin bowling, and Westpoint (an entertainment complex). Whether you’re looking for a way to spend a spare afternoon or to celebrate your flatmate’s birthday, there’s something exciting around most corners for every occasion!

For day trips, Exeter is well-known for its beautiful gothic cathedral. If you're in to your architecture, this place is a must visit! If theatre is more your cup of tea, on the Streatham Campus of the university, Exeter Northcott Theatre has been the home of high-quality professional theatre for 50 years.
